DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface. DVI is backwards compatible with VGA through the use of an adapter. There are single and dual link connections:
- Single link:
- Supports 3.7 Gbps (HDTV at 60 fps)
- Max resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz or 1280 x1024 @ 86 Hz
- Dual link:
- Supports 7.4 Gbps (HDTV at 85 fps)
- Max resolution: 2048 x 1536 @ 60 Hz
DVI-A supports analog signals
DVI-D supports digital signals.
DVI-I is an integrated connector that sends both digital and analog signals in the same connector.
