Fiber provides high speed networking. Fiber allows different types of data (voice, video, data) to be sent on the same fiber. Fiber provides the enhanced features of hundreds of HD channels and 1 Gbit/sec internet access.
- FTTN (Fiber to the node): Fiber runs from provider to a box somewhere in your neighborhood. Coaxial or Ethernet cable connects the box to your home/office.
- FTTP (Fiber to the premises): Fiber is used the whole way from the provider to your home/office. Once inside your home/office you can use any standard cabling (or wireless) to connect your computers to the Internet.
View the section on the Fiber cable for more information on the cable used for this type of fiber internet connection.
