SOHO stands for small office home office.
Multifunction devices are common in a small office home office environment. A multifunction device may include a printer, scanner, fax, network connection, phone line connectin, and that ability to print from web.
Use appropriate drivers for a given operating system
You need to install a printer driver that is specific to the printer model in use. Also ensure you have the correct driver for the specific operating systems that you are using (for example, Windows 7, WIndows 8/8.1, Windows 10, etc.) Lastly, you need to make sure you’re using the right type of printer driver for the version of your operating system. 32-bit drivers are different than 64-bit drivers.
Configuration settings
Duplex
Duplex means that the printer will print on both ides often page without the user having to manually flip the paper over. Duplex may not be a function of all printers, because it requires special hardware to do the auto page flipping.
Collate
Collate is a feature that can come in handy when you want to print multiple copies of a print job. If you want to print 3 copies of a 4 page document, a non collated job will print out the pages like this: 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4. A collated job will print out the pages like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4
Collated copies make it easier to separate each copy once it is done printing.
Orientation
The orientation tells the printer to print in either portrait or landscape mode. The paper doesn’t actually rotate, but the printer compensates to print the desired orientation. Portrait is taller from top to bottom and landscape is wider from left to right.
Quality
Multifunction SOHO printers will allow you to set the quality of your print job. This means that you can adjust the resolution, color or grayscale, and if you want to print in color saving mode which saves color at the cost of color quality.
