Every operating system needs its own device drivers for every piece of hardware. Devices need to be able to communicate with the operating system, and device drivers help to do this.
Device Manager on Windows will show all the device drivers on the Windows system.
Device drivers are software programs stored on the hardrive. When the operating system boots up, the device drivers act as an interface between the hardware devices and the operating system itself.
Every different operating system has its own set of device drivers.
