Encryption
If your SOHO router includes wireless connectivity, then wireless setting should be set to the highest encryption possible for security so that any traffic sent over the network will be protected. WPA2-AES is the recommended encryption. Choose WPA2 over WPA. WEP might also be an option but this is not recommended. It’s an older technology but has a number of vulnerabilities.
Channels
If you are in an area with multiple access points, you can check your frequency settings to choose a frequency with less traffic to prevent confliction with other devices in your area. You can select a channel manually or the router can automatically select the channel that works best in your area.
