To recover from a malware attack you may need to perform a restore of a backup. Which means you should ensure you have a backup in the first place.
To perform a backup, Windows provides imaging software built into Windows 7, 8, and 10 operating systems. In Windows 7 it’s called Backup and Restore. In Windows 10, it’s called Backup and Restore (Windows 7). Using this utility, you can back up your entire system to an image.
You can then use the back up to restore the entire system or individual files.
Doing a restore from a known good backup is the only way to be sure that malware has been removed. Even if you think you’ve cleaned all the malware out of your system, there may still be remnants. Therefore performing a restore is the best choice.
