2.4 Malware: Botnet

There is another type of malware that doesn’t aim to delete your files, but instead changes your computer into a robot so that it can do the bidding of the hacker. This is called a botnet. If your computer has been taken over by a botnet it may not be readily apparent. A computer infected with a botnet sits around and checks in with a third party, to see if the third party has instructions. Once the third party sends instructions, it can command your system to do things like perform a denial of service attack to another system, send out emails, etc.
