In Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, there is a feature called HomeGroup which allows you to easily share information such as documents, pictures, music, and video. To set up a HomeGroup view the applet in the Control Panel.
Windows 10 was originally included HomeGroup but it has since been removed in latter versions of Windows 10.
In order to set up a HomeGroup, you must make your network profile set to home. Then create a HomeGroup for which you will be provided a password that will then be shared with all of the devices you want to allow to access the HomeGroup.
HomeGroup only works on a single private network.
