The Folder Options in the Control Panel, let you manage Windows Explorer (or File Explorer in Windows 10).
General options
The General tab configures how File Explorer is used. You can change how the folders look on screen. You can choose to use a single click or double click. You can set privacy settings as well.
View options
The View tab lets you configure what you see on screen. For example, if you want to always show icons and never thumbnails, then this would be configured in the View tab.
View hidden files
The View tab is also where you can configure File Explorer to show hidden files
Hide extensions
The View tab within the File Explorer Options is also where you can enable or disable the hiding of extensions. For example, instead of seeing “picture.jpg,” File Explorer can hide the extension so that that the file name just appears as “picture”
The Search tab, you can define how the operating system configures the search settings for the files. For example, you can disable the index when searching in the folders for system files.
You can set which files will be searched during the indexing process.
