By default the operating system doesn’t know how to talk directly to hardware. This is where device drivers come in to act as a middle man between the hardware device and the operating system. Device drivers are hardware and operating system specific. Therefore, Windows 7 device drivers might not necessarily work in Windows 10.
Device Manager is the place to view the device drivers.
Device Manager can be added as a snap in in Computer Management, or it can be started with the command devmgmt.msc
The Device Manager allows you to control all of your hardware. For each type of hardware you can update the driver, disable the device, uninstall the device, scan for hardware changes, or view the hardware’s properties.
