The Microsoft COM+ (Component Object Model) is a common model for developers to build applications for the Windows platform. It’s commonly used in enterprise environments where developers are creating object oriented applications for the business. If you’re deploying these applications you may need to use the Component Services app to see how the application is configured in the operating system in addition to viewing event viewer and services to get a total view of that application.
Any configuration changes that need to be made on a computer to run the application would be done in the Component Services utility.
