Before performing an operating system installation make sure your hardware meets the minimum requirements of the operating system. Find out the operating system’s minimum requirements for memory, disk space, etc.
You can run a hardware compatibility check that you can run directly from the Windows installation media. You can run this manually from the Windows setup screen. In Windows 10, this is called the WIndows 10 Upgrade Checker. This program will automatically check your hardware to let you know if it’s ready to install Windows 10.
For prerequisites, be sure to plan for installation questions such as drive/partition configuration, have license keys available, etc.
