End-of-life
When an operating system reaches end of life, it means that the vendor will no longer support that version. Different companies set their own end of life policies. Some companies will support their OS for long periods of time. Other companies will set a short life time for an OS and expect the user to upgrade their hardware when their software becomes end of life.
Update limitations
For iOS, Android, and Windows 10, the device will check for updates and prompt the user if they want to update. Chrome OS will update automatically.
