There may be many wireless access points within a building or company so to manage the many access points, you could use a wireless LAN controller. The wireless LAN controller provides centralized management of WAPs. The controller allows you to deploy new access points, monitor performance and security, configure and deploy changes to all WAPs, and provide reporting on WAP use. The controller is usually a proprietary system made by the manufacturer of your WAPs. Wireless LAN controllers can be physical devices or it can be cloud based, meaning you can manage the WAPs from anywhere.
