FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. As you can guess from the name, it’s used to transfer files between systems.
FTP uses TCP Port 21 to control the communication of the FTP.
FTP requires authentication with a username and password. However, there is an option for an anonymous login where the username is “anonymous” and you can use whatever password you’d like. Sends usernames and passwords as clear text.
FTP allows you to view files on a system, rename, delete, and add files.
